Annual Election of the Cairo Fire District
The annual election of the Cairo Fire District will take place on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. at the Cairo Firehouse located at 30 Railroad Ave, Cairo, NY for the purpose of electing on Commissioner for a five-year term, commencing January 1, 2026 and ending December 31, 2030.
All voters registered with the Greene County Board of Elections on or before November 17, 2025 and residing in the Fire District for a period of thirty (30) days preceding the election shall be eligible to vote.
Nominations for this office are to be made as provide by Sec 176 Sub 7 of the Town Law. Any candidate for District Offices shall file their names with the Secretary of the Cairo Fire District, no later than twenty (20) days before the election. It is required that such nominations be submitted in petition form subscribed by twenty-five (25) qualified voters of the Cairo Fire District. Petition forms are available by contacting the Cairo Town Clerk at the Cairo Town Hall, Cairo, NY 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Petitions shall be returned to the Town Clerk by November 19, 2025.
