Department Head 2026 Budget Meeting with the Board Members

The Department Heads will discuss the 2026 Budgets that they submitted to the Town Board on the following dates:

September 25, 2025 from 6:10pm – 8pm in the Town Hall Meeting Room and

October 2, 2025 from 10am – 12:15pm in the Town Hall Meeting Room.

These are open to the public to listen to but not to discuss/ask questions.

There will be a public hearing on the 2026 budget that the public can voice their questions/concerns. Date will be provided after October 6 board meeting.

Burn Ban in Effect until Further Notice

The Cairo Town Supervisor has implemented a burn ban due to drought or high fire danger for the Cairo Fire District and the Round Top Fire District until further notice.

Here are some specific guidelines on what is allowed and what is prohibited:

  • What is prohibited:
    • Residential brush burning is prohibited.
    • You cannot burn garbage, leaves, loose leaves or piles, tires, pressure-treated or painted wood, or other non-organic wastes.
  • What is allowed:
    • Contained/enclosed (brick, stones, metal, etc…) Campfires/firepits less than 3 feet high and 4 feet wide/length/diameter.
    • Small cooking fires.
    • Ceremonial bonfires.
  • Agricultural land restrictions: Organic agricultural wastes may be burned under specific conditions on agricultural land larger than 5 acres, provided they can be completely burned within 24 hours.
